Family plan
How can I help my elderly parent keep track of their passwords?
Give them one safe place for every password, set it up together, and make yourself their trusted person so you can help in an emergency.
Give them one safe place for every password, set it up together, and make yourself their trusted person. Then they only need to remember one password, and you can step in if something goes wrong.
What is the simplest setup for a parent?
A password vault with the free Bitwarden app on their phone, filled in together with them. They remember one master password. The app fills in the rest. Dankore Vault is built for exactly this, and we can do the setup with you.
Set it up together
- Sit down together with their phone and the notebook or papers they use now.
- Help them choose a master password they will remember. See choosing a good master password.
- Add their most important accounts first: email, bank, pharmacy, doctor.
- Print the emergency kit and keep it with their important papers.
Make yourself their trusted person
With emergency access, you can ask to get into their vault if they are ill. They choose a waiting time. While they are well, they can simply say no. Their privacy stays theirs.
Should we be on the same Family plan?
You can. The Family plan covers up to 6 people for $10 a month. Each person has their own private vault, and you can share things like the Wi-Fi in one shared folder.
Protect them from scams
Older people are a favourite target of fake calls and emails. Go through how to spot scam emails and calls together. Remind them: Dankore will never ask for their master password.
If you live far away, we can do the setup with your parent in person or on a call, and keep you in the loop.
