Think of a safe with your own combination
Your passwords go into a safe. You choose the combination: your master password.
The Bitwarden app on your phone or computer locks the safe right there, on your device. Only the locked safe is sent to our server.
We keep the safe on our server and back it up every day. We do not know the combination, so we cannot open it. Nobody who broke into our server could open it either.
What this means for you
Only you can open your vault
Not Dankore, not a thief, not anyone who calls pretending to be us.
Nobody can reset your master password
That is the price of real safety. Write it on your emergency kit and choose a trusted person.
Losing your phone is fine
Your vault is on our server, not only on your phone. Sign in on a new phone and everything is there.
We will never ask for your master password. Not by phone, email or text. Only type it into the Bitwarden app, or at https://secure-vault.dankore.com.
The family shared folder, honestly
On the Family plan, everyone has their own private vault. Those are locked just like above.
The family also gets one shared folder, called "Family shared". To add your family for you, without hard computer steps, our system holds the key to that one folder.
So please keep your most private things in your own vault. Use the shared folder for things the whole family needs, like the Wi-Fi or the streaming login.
What we do to keep things safe
- Every page and app connection is encrypted (HTTPS).
- Your locked vault is backed up every day, and the backups are locked too.
- Our website can use two-step sign-in. Our own admin accounts must use it.
- The vault's control panel cannot be reached from the internet.
- No adverts, no tracking, no outside scripts. Even our fonts come from our own server.
- The vault runs on Vaultwarden, open source software that security experts can check. The Bitwarden apps are open source too.
Two different passwords
Your account password signs in to this website, for your plan and settings. If you forget it, we email you a link to choose a new one.
Your master password opens your vault. Only you know it. Nobody can reset it.
