Getting started
What is a password manager, and why should I use one?
A password manager remembers all your passwords for you, so you only need to remember one. Here is how it helps and why it is safe.
A password manager is a safe place for all your passwords. It remembers them, so you do not have to.
You only need to remember one password. We call it your master password. It opens your vault, and your vault holds everything else.
Why not just write them down or reuse one?
Most people reuse the same password on many websites. That feels easier. But if one website is broken into, criminals try that password everywhere else. Your email, your bank and your shopping sites could all be at risk.
A notebook of passwords is better than reusing one. But a notebook can be lost, and it does not travel with you.
What Dankore Vault does for you
- It keeps every password, locked, in one place.
- It fills in your passwords for you on websites and apps.
- It makes strong new passwords that nobody can guess.
- It keeps working if you lose your phone, because your vault is also safely stored on our server.
- It can keep private notes, card details and the six-digit sign-in codes some websites ask for.
Is it safe to keep everything in one place?
Yes. Your vault is locked on your own phone or computer before it is sent to us. We only ever store the locked version. Nobody at Dankore can open it, and neither can anyone who breaks in.
You can read more on what Dankore can and cannot see or on our plain security page.
What you will use
You use the free Bitwarden app on your phone or computer. It is made by Bitwarden, Inc. We are not part of Bitwarden. We run the safe home for your vault, and we help you when you need it.
You do not need to move all your passwords on day one. Start with your email and your bank. Add the rest as you use them.
