Getting started

Do I really need a password manager?

If you have more than a handful of accounts, yes. It remembers every password for you, so each one can be different and strong, and you only remember one.

If you have more than a handful of online accounts, yes. A password manager remembers every password for you. That lets each password be different and hard to guess, while you only remember one.

Why is remembering them myself a problem?

Most people have dozens of accounts: email, bank, pharmacy, shopping, utilities. Nobody can remember dozens of strong passwords. So people reuse one or two, or write them on scraps of paper. Both are how accounts get broken into.

What changes with a password manager?

  • Every account gets its own strong password, made for you.
  • The password fills in for you on your phone and computer.
  • Your passwords are backed up. Losing your phone does not lose them.
  • You can keep private notes, card numbers and ID details in the same safe place.

Who does not need one?

If you only have two or three accounts and use the same device every day, a well-kept paper list at home may be enough. Most people have far more than that today.

Where do I start?

  1. Read what a password manager is, in plain words.
  2. Look at our prices. Personal is $5 a month.
  3. If you would like a hand, we can set it up with you, in person or on a call.

You do not have to move every password on day one. Start with your email and your bank, and add the rest as you use them.
